Heat Management

Although engineered quartz is heat resistant, sudden rapid thermal shock from hot cookware (e.g. cast iron skillets directly from the stove) can cause localized discoloration. Always use trivets or silicone heat pads.

Cutting & Scratching

With a Mohs hardness of 7, quartz is harder than knife steel. However, cutting directly on the surface will dull your kitchen knives and may leave metal transfer marks. Always use a cutting board.
